Attacks at Community Colleges Has Gone Too Far

Community Colleges are not intended to be the battleground to stage attacks.  Attacks could come in the form of knife, gun, or some violent rampage.

A doctorate thesis requiring years of research is not necessary to come to this conclusion, and to state that the situation needs to be addressed.  Surely there are many that concur to this.

If you were to do all of 10 minutes of research on a history of attacks at community colleges within recent years, you will probably find a bundle.

An example of what is being discussed here, a quick list:
  • Texas
    • Lone Star Community College stabbing rampage earlier this week
    • Lone Star Community College, North Harris, January 22nd this year, shooting
  • Wyoming
    • 3 dead on November 30, 2012, last year, Casper College; bow-and-arrow type weapon reportedly involved
  • Florida
    • Stun Gun attack at Brevard College, June 18-19th, 2012 thereabout
  • Missouri
    • Man found shot near St. Louis Community College, February 20th, 2013, this year
  • Connecticut
    • Threat of Mass shooting at Gateway Community College, this year, same date as immediately above, 20th of February

This list might be updated soon.  Meanwhile there are enough incidents cited that the point has been more than made.

Troubles in Connecticut: Reflections on the School Shooting: The Other Problems: Child Abuse. 12 21 12

This 12 21 12, is a day to get some things straight.
First, condolences to the victims of the school shooting tragedy in Connecticut.
This blog post is going to focus on Connecticut.
There was an incident in China involving an attack on young children; condolences to them also.  The lessons to be discussed herein have the intended scope limited to point to the Connecticut incident.

The school: Sandy Hook Elementary
Newtown, Connecticut
20 children killed, 6 adults killed [estimate]
12 girls, all ages 6 or 7 [est.]
8 boys, all ages 6 or 7 [est.]
[source: most Internet news stories]

First, without playing hide the hidden knowledge, it is well known that anytime a tragedy occurs that involves mass loss of life of children, it can be an indicator that there are other things wrong in the area.

One of those things that you start to look at, is what is the situation of child abuse in that area.

Which leads to, there are a number of things that need to be addressed concerning the overall condition of the State of Connecticut.

Not all of the matters that need looking into are presented here right now, or yet.  We will start with a table provided at: http://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/cb/resource/child-maltreatment-2011

What has been done here, because the information might be hard to read, and requires computer software that everyone might not have, is put it on a graphic that is easy to see and understand, with a few notes.

What is obvious, as many adults stand forth with the request to do something about violent acts, let us hope that every single one of them is 100% clean in regard to how they treat their children.  If they are, good.  If not, please improve, and the same that are not showing face, that are doing the abusing.  CONCURRENT to EFFECTIVE REDUCTION of violence, is EFFECTIVE REDUCTION OF CHILD ABUSE.

From the online source, 'Connecticut Judicial Branch law Libraries':
Abused: “A child or youth may be found ‘abused’ who (A) has been inflicted with physical injury or injuries other than by accidental means, (B) has injuries that are at variance with the history given of them, or (C) is in a condition that is the result of maltreatment, including, but not limited to, malnutrition, sexual molestation or exploitation, deprivation of necessities, emotional maltreatment or cruel punishment” CONN. GEN. STATS. § 46b-120(7) (2012 Supplement).

For the 6 and 7 year old group, the statistics are somewhere around the average of 500 and 600 per each age, totaling about a 1000, a thousand, for the 2011 year.

This is what the tables seem to indicate.

The graphic, you be the judge:

Let's take a look at 3 big disasters that involved violence in the very recent years.

  • Virginia Tech shooting

  • Fort Hood shooting

  • Pittsburgh Gym shooting

All 3 of these had 1 thing in common: News reports state that the shooters were posting messages on computers. Of concern, morbid messages, and postings indicative that someone might get hurt. The postings at least hinted that the authors were emotionally upset.

Now let's look at the possibilities of how these incidents could have been prevented. Markedly, look at 1, viable, smart way that they could have been prevented: Computer and internet security and monitoring. There are 2 sets of software, that when installed, and used to higher levels of effectiveness, perhaps, shootings like those at Virginia Tech, Fort Hood, and Pittsburgh, would never had happened.

What are these 2 software? And by the way, they do not cost very much, and they are easy to buy. Here they are:
